AN INDUCEMENT INTO MATRIMONY is an anthology of short stories which are variations of Pride & Prejudice, written by some of today’s best JAFF authors. Sixteen Days At Pemberley by Susan Adriani In which Lydia does not go to Brighton. The Gardiners and Elizabeth stay at Pemberley, allowing Darcy to show how much he has improved himself and how much he adores his dearest, loveliest Elizabeth. The Pleasure of Understanding Her by Mary Smythe In which Fitzwilliam Darcy has a headache with an odd side effect. He awakens with the ability to hear everyone’s thoughts. The Luxury of Silence by Susan Adriani. ★★★★☆

A man at the end of his tether, after barely saving his young sister, Georgiana from ruination, Fitzwilliam Darcy seeks peace and solace for them both in Hertfordshire. There he meets Elizabeth Bennet. Accustomed to deference and flattery from the women of the ton, he is chagrined to be taken to task by Elizabeth for a moment of rudeness.  From this develops a friendship of frankness and warmth. A mutual love of nature, literature and debate deepens the relationship, which slowly becomes something more.  Elizabeth loses her heart to Darcy, but has no expectation of marriage to a man, so much above her in Society. For Darcy, friendship and infatuation develop simultaneously but duty to family and status, force him to contain his feelings.  Will love and friendship triumph over the expectations of family and Society? This is a delightful book. Both Elizabeth and Darcy are pleasing characters and the frissons of barely suppressed passion keep everything simmering nicely. I r...

Elizabeth chooses to celebrate Christmas with her friend Charlotte Collins at Hunsford parsonage, also home to her cousin William Collins (Rector to Lady Catherine De Bourgh). A sudden snowstorm, traps Mr & Mrs Collins with a parishioner, leaving Elizabeth alone. Lady Catherine is hosting the Fitzwilliam family and Mr Darcy at Rosings. Between Lady Catherine, droning on about him marrying his cousin Anne and the drunken antics of his Fitzwilliam cousins, Darcy is having the Christmas from hell! When Colonel Fitzwilliam discovers Elizabeth snowed in on her own, he insists she move to Rosings for her safety. She is once again in the company of Fitzwilliam Darcy. Both still love each other, yet each think their love is unrequited due to misunderstandings. Can Christmas provide the magic they need to understand each other and gift them a happy ending? This is an utterly delightful tale of yearning, angst and crazy relations! I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am vol...
