Elizabeth Bennet is visiting Derbyshire with her Uncle and Aunt Gardner. On a solitary walk she meets a distraught young girl. Georgiana Darcy is in desperate need of a friend and Elizabeth provides solace.  An invitation to an informal supper with Georgiana and her companion, Mrs Annesley starts well enough. However, their burgeoning friendship soon comes to a screeching halt! Unfortunately, Georgiana's proud and haughty brother Fitzwilliam Darcy, arrives home with houseguests. He is shocked and somewhat suspicious to find Elizabeth there.  The informal supper metamorphoses into a formal dinner.  On her way to the dining room, she overhears Darcy and his houseguests disparaging her. Understandably upset, she plans to ask for transport back to the Gardners.  In her haste she knocks over valuable porcelain. She saves it from breaking, but is accused of trying to steal it.  Darcy is horrible. He orders her out of the house and off Pemberley land.  Elizabeth i...

Traces of Magic: A Pride and Prejudice Fantasy Variation By Monica Fairview. ★★★★☆

Traces of Magic is the third book in the magical Mr. Darcy series.  It can be read as a complete, standalone story, although it might be useful to read the earlier books. Life at the Netherfield Royal Mages Academy seems a little more settled. Mages, Elizabeth and Fitzwilliam Darcy are married and happy. Into the peace of a cricket match, comes a sudden flare of magic. On investigation, the Darcy’s are shocked to find that the source is her little sister, Lydia. The uncontrolled magic, attracts Rogue mages, who threaten the monarchy. A cross country romp follows, to defeat the Rogues. Mr Bennet, an ex-Rogue mage comes along to assist and the non-magical Mary Bennet provides a surprising intervention. An exciting and delightful 3rd instalment of Mr Darcy’s magic. I received a free copy of this book from the author and am voluntarily leaving a review. All views expressed are my own. Amazon review Goodreads review

Threads of Magic: A Pride and Prejudice variation by Monica Fairview ★★★★☆

Threads of Magic is Book 2 of Mr. Darcy’s Magic. It is a standalone novel without cliff-hangers, but it is best read as part of a series. Set against a backdrop of Regency England where magic is the province of the aristocracy. Napoleon has weaponised magic and English Royal Mages must defeat him. In Book 1, Elizabeth Bennet is forced into a loveless marriage with Royal Mage, Fitzwilliam Darcy. Her magical gifts are needed to optimise his essential defensive magical power but the rules of propriety dictate an unmarried couple cannot work together. By the end of Book 1 the couple are in love. Threads of Magic starts as the couple return to magical headquarters after a romantic break. They are dropped straight back into battle before they make it through the door. Elizabeth saves everyone using an unconventional strategy. One would think that she would be lauded for this. However, three Mages have a strange malady for which Elizabeth is blamed. The Mages relocate/retreat to Netherfield P...
