Following literature's most appalling proposal, Fitzwilliam Darcy endeavours to understand Elizabeth Bennet's chastisements and become a better man.  Darcy writes a letter explaining himself and Elizabeth learns to think better of him. A few months later, Elizabeth is on holiday in Derbyshire with her Uncle and Aunt Gardiner. They make a tourists visit to Pemberley, as the Darcy family are away. Elizabeth is shocked to bump into Darcy. Fate has granted them a second chance for love but they must overcome the challenges of a teenage elopement and a wicked scoundrel.  The road to Gretna Green awaits. Pleasing twist from the original. In this variation, Darcy and Elizabeth are much easier with each other, Darcy apologies for the insult.  He develops a real friendship with Mr Bennet. Bingley overhears Mrs Bennet talking to Jane about advantageous marriages and becomes more cautious about Jane.   Wickham notices Darcy's interest in the Bennet family but assumes he favours Jane.  He seeks to exploit that and Jane lets him, having lost all confidence after Bingley leaves.  She feels the weight of the expectation that she must marry well, to save her family. Unfortunately, all this results in Jane, demonstrating behaviour worthy of Kitty or Lydia! Picking fights with Elizabeth and risky, reputation-threatening assignations! When Darcy returns to Meryton, a contretemps between his horse and Elizabeth's dog, Smooch leads to injuries requiring a stay at Longbourn.  Elizabeth cares for him and they become close. They try to resolve Jane's issues, thwart Wickham and fend off Lady Catherine de Bour...

Elizabeth Bennet, is well known for her love of rambling over the Hertfordshire countryside. A favourite spot to watch the dawn, is Oakham Mount. One November morning, her peace is disturbed by a meeting between two men of her acquaintance. The handsome soldier, George Wickham, struggling manfully, having had his prospects blighted by the proud, disdainful Mr Darcy. While Elizabeth is shielded from view behind a tree, she listens to Mr Darcy and Wickham talking, then arguing. She discovers that Wickham is in fact a scoundrel and a liar, while Darcy is all that is good. She sees both men leave and watches Wickham ride into Meryton. Next evening at the Netherfield ball, the shocking news of George Wickham’s murder is announced. As the last person to meet with Wickham, Darcy is a suspect. Elizabeth risks her reputation by revealing her presence at Oakham Mount, in order to clear Darcy. There are of course consequences to this revelation. Darcy feels duty bound to offer for Elizabeth. ...
